A NEW DIMENSION OF ECG MONITORING: from science to practical patient care

10.09.2026

On August 13, 2026, in Rzhyshchiv, Kyiv region, testing and pilot implementation of an innovative project for monitoring the condition of patients with diseases amenable to outpatient treatment began.

The project was developed based on the concept proposed by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Doctor of Medicine (Germany), leading researcher at the V.M. Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics of the NAS of Ukraine, I.A. Chaikovsky.

The technology involves the use of portable electrocardiographic hardware-software complexes and a cloud analytical platform, which allows obtaining and analyzing patient condition indicators and tracking them dynamically.

The pilot project is the result of collaboration between science, medicine, and the local community with the support of Academ.City. The partnership was formalized by a Memorandum between the V.M. Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics of the NAS of Ukraine, Kyiv Academic University, Center for Innovative Health Technologies, and Rzhyshchiv City Primary Health Care Center.

What does the technology provide?

In addition to standard electrocardiography indicators, the system allows analyzing additional characteristics:

  • functional reserve of the body — an indicator characterizing the functional capabilities of the body at the time of examination;

  • heart rate variability;

  • indicators that can be used to assess psycho-emotional state;

  • dynamics of changes in the patient's condition during observation.

Thus, the doctor receives an additional tool for dynamic patient monitoring, and the patient gains the opportunity to better understand changes in their own condition and the factors that may influence them.

The first patient consultation within the pilot project was conducted by the director of the Rzhyshchiv City Primary Health Care Center, a therapist of the highest category, Y.O. Tikhomirova.

The initiation of cooperation between scientists, the medical community, and the public was presented on July 9, 2026, during the Demo Day "SCIENCE — BUSINESS".

The Rzhyshchiv community became the first platform for practical testing of the development. In the future, the obtained results may serve as a basis for further improvement of the technology and its scaling in other territorial communities of Ukraine.

This project is an example of how scientific developments of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine can transition from research work to practical application and directly serve the needs of citizens.
